Hudsons is a jazz bar located in the heart of orlando's art district, the goal of this project
Every project starts with a bit of discovery, that includes figuring out what type of message you want to send out to your target audience. This restaurant wants to bring a jazz club vibe to the atmosphere, the owners also pull a lot of influence from the midcentury jazz scene.
Once a direction is established its time to create some sketches, these help flesh out ideas whether good or bad. Below are some of the ideas that I had.
Once sketching and getting out the ideas in my head onto paper are done I started designing the logo in illustrator (1). After much needed play we decided on a more authentic feeling mid century modern style logo (2)

After designing the logo I felt as if it was lacking, I decided on adding a mascot to the brand as I believe the way that the mascot can be incorporated into the branding as well as promotional material.
Cats have always been a staple in cool jazz bars and I felt that a cat mascot in a mid century modern bar/restaurant. Here is the logo in its entirety.
