To create a fresh identity for this year's Orlando Film Festival, which is celebrating its 18th year of running.
Named one of the Top 25 “Coolest Film Festivals in the World" by Moviemaker Magazine, the Orlando Film Festival (OFF) is now in its 18th year, showcasing the best in new independent cinema worldwide.
The immersive eight-day event features over 300 films, industry panels, workshops, and nightly parties, fostering crucial networking opportunities for indie filmmakers and attendees. The festival concludes with an award ceremony, offering prizes valued at over one million dollars.
A main challenge of this project was the client's lack of direction, giving me complete creative freedom. This posed a risk, as too much freedom can lead to client dissatisfaction with the final outcome.
To combat this, I maintained constant communication with the Orlando Film Festival organizers to avoid wasting time. With only a few weeks before the final design needed printing and shipping, communication was crucial in ensuring the project's success.
Just like every project I work on, I always start with word maps and mood boards. These tactics are ways to help my mind focus as well as a way to allow ideas to flow. It also helps me start to understand and deconstruct brand language, which helps pave the way for a visually appealing end result!
Once I have the word mapping and moodboard complete, I like to start sketching my ideas. At this point in the process, I don't judge what comes out; I just allow my thoughts and ideas to flow onto the paper.
once the sketching and heavy leg work is done I then bring the sketches into illustrator to build this project out!
With multiple iterations of very small changes the clients were pleased with the final product as requested if we were to shape this project out to create printed material like banners, tickets, passes etc.
Overall the project and show was a success! I had a blast taking part in this event as well as being able to create the branding for such a long running festival here in FL.
Thank you for reviewing my project!
